Saci is a trickster figure in Brazilian folklore. He is a Black or Bi-Racial one-legged youth with magical powers that wears a red cap. This red cap allows him to turn invisible. He also has the ability to produce hurricanes and transform into the stripped Cuckoo. I was inspired to create this piece after learning about folkloric Brazilian creatures after learning about them through the Brazilian show “Invisible City”. Invisible City acted as a catalyst to me searching out stories about Brazilian mythical creatures.
